Spring Newsletter 2007

After a successful season last year we look forward to a fresh season this year and give a warm welcome to our new members who we hope to see at our forthcoming Field Events. This year we have three Field Tests and three Field Trials planned. We were successful in our application to the Kennel Club for Novice Cocker Spaniel Field Trial status and as such we held our first Cocker only trial last November. We are holding our second Cocker Spaniel only Gundog Working Test on July the 1st, it is most important that this is supported by the Cocker membership. This event is open to Puppy, Novice & Open Dogs.

This year sees our Societies 75th anniversary and as such to celebrate we will be holding a second Novice Cocker trial. We have 2 of our grounds confirmed but we are still on the lookout for the third. So if any of you know of a good trial ground we can go to please let me know ASAP.

Field Tests (Schedules available HERE)
1. Kay Baldwin Gundog Working Tests: Sunday April 1st at Perry Green Farm, Bradwell, Essex.
2. All –Aged Cocker Spaniel Test: Sunday 1st July at the above venue.
3. Cold Game Gundog Working Tests: Date and venue TBA.

Field Trials (Dates & Venues TBA)
We have planned three Novice Field trials, one AV and two novice Cocker Field Trials and details will be published later.

Autumn Newsletter 2007

Dear Members

I hope this newsletter finds you well. As you all know we had a very successful Spring and Summer with a good turn out for both the Kay Baldwin Working Tests and The Cocker Test. The results of which will be published on the web site.

The Cold Game Test:
We are running our Cold game test this year. You may recall we had to cancel last years test due to a lack of Venue. I am happy to say that we have a new Host for this event. It is Mr Richard Sergeant of The Priory at St.Osyth, Essex. As you can see from the Schedule it is an All-Aged test. If you look at the list of awards there is something for everyone. There is an award for Best Minor breed, so it would be nice to see some of our Minor breeds members turn up and compete against each other for the trophy. Come along and give it a go.
I need any unreturned Cold Game Test Trophies awarded in 2005 returned ASAP. I will be contacting the holders direct but get them back to me before I have to start stalking people please!!

Field Trials and Tests:
The 4 Judge System has been adopted for all current and future Field Trials.
The Autumn Test will be held on Sunday the 16th of September 2007 at St. Osyth Essex.
Novice AV Spaniel Field Trial will be held on Monday the 15th of October 2007 at Long Melford, Suffolk by kind permission of P. Rushbrook Esq. Schedules attached.
75th Anniversary Novice Cocker Spaniel Trial will be held on Wednesday 28th October 2007 at Thorrington Hall, Thorrington, Essex by kind permission of D.Gibbons Esq. Schedules attached.
2nd Novice Cocker Spaniel Trial will be held on Monday 7th of January 2008 at The Round Bush shoot, Mundon, Essex by kind permission of Mr S Dewey.

Subscriptions
Subs are now overdue and cheques should be sent to the Membership Secretary – Mr J Buck- and not to me. If you have not yet paid. Standing Order is the preferred method of payment and we hope that those members currently paying by other means will change to this method. Standing Order forms should be sent direct to your Bank.

The Future: As you can see we are running 2 Cocker Trials this year. The reasons for this are twofold. The first reason is get at least 5 Cocker stakes under our belt by the end of next season, so that we can apply ASAP FOR Open status and the second reason is that it is our clubs 75th anniversary. The first Cocker trial is a special one because of this. The shooting press will be in attendance as well as a Special Guest (confirmation pending). So please come along and support us.

If you need more copies of the entry form or the schedules you can download them from the Field Events page
